Christmas Tree Fundraiser Lights Up the Watertown Regional Library

The Watertown Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce the return of its annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser, now on display throughout December at the Watertown Regional Library. Fifteen local nonprofit organizations have each decorated a Christmas tree that reflects their mission and service to our community:

Beacon Center; Boy Scout Troop 209; Codington County 4-H; Community Transit of Watertown/Sisseton; East-Central CASA; Human Service Agency C.A.R.E.; Joy Ranch of South Dakota; Lake Area Zoological Society; Northern Prairie Arts; Rachel’s Hope; Special Olympics Watertown Area; Town Players Community Theater; Watertown Area Snow Queen; Watertown Cares; and the Watertown Regional Library.

The community is invited to walk through the display and vote for their favorite trees. Each $1 donation equals one vote, and every dollar goes directly to the nonprofit behind the tree. The Foundation will match donations up to $300 per organization, and the nonprofit with the most votes will receive a $500 unrestricted grant.

New this year, visitors can enjoy Christmas Tree Bingo, a fun way for adults and children alike to learn more about each participating nonprofit organization. Completed bingo cards will be entered into a drawing for free movie passes.

To highlight the displays, the Library will host “Lights Out” every Tuesday from 6:00–6:30 p.m. through December. During this time, lights are dimmed so the trees’ decorations can truly shine.

The Library will also host a Chamber After 4 event on Thursday, December 4, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. The gathering, catered by Dempsey’s, will include representatives from each nonprofit, offering community members a chance to learn more about their programs and the people they serve.

The Christmas Tree Fundraiser is open during regular Library hours through the end of the month.
