Summer has been full of activity, and it’s exciting to see Foundation investments coming to life across the Watertown area.
Visitors are already enjoying the new wolf exhibit at the Bramble Park Zoo, made possible in part through a $60,000 grant from the Watertown Area Community Foundation.
Downtown has also been buzzing with new energy. With support from the Foundation, the Downtown Collective recently welcomed its first Downtown Director, Raina Carter. From a downtown history scavenger hunt and freshly painted patriotic crosswalks to the Red, White & Blue Concerts on Kemp series and weekly activities in Foundation Plaza, there’s no shortage of reasons to gather downtown this summer.
Young performers took the stage in Annie Kids through Town Players’ Youth Theater Camp, while local students explored creativity in a variety of countries during the Goss Opera House’s Passport to the Arts program. Both opportunities were supported by grants from the Foundation’s Youth Council, empowering young people through the arts.
And while Foundation staff and board members have spent plenty of time on area golf courses this season, let’s just say they’re better at golfing for good than golfing well. Thankfully, the scorecards matter far less than the causes they support.
