WACF Youth Council Senior Spotlight: Halle Olson

April 17, 2025

The Watertown Area Community Foundation is proud to recognize Halle Olson as one of our graduating seniors from the Foundation’s Youth Council. Halle joined the Youth Council to become more involved in her community and to grow as a leader—and she’s done exactly that.

One of the highlights of Halle’s time on Youth Council was learning about local nonprofit organizations, like Watertown Cares, which operates 612 Flats, a transitional home for residents facing homelessness. She found her visits to 612 Flats to be especially eye-opening and impactful. Through her experiences, Halle has gained a deeper understanding of the challenges many in our community face—insight that has shaped her perspective and inspired her to stay engaged.

“The greatest lesson I’ve learned,” Halle shared, “is to take nothing for granted and treat everyone with the same respect.” It’s this outlook that makes her such a valuable member of our Youth Council and a thoughtful leader among her peers.

Looking ahead, Halle plans to attend South Dakota State University and pursue a degree in business economics, with law school potentially in her future. No matter where life takes her, she plans to continue giving back—whether it’s through spreading awareness or helping with community efforts and fundraisers.

The Foundation is grateful for Halle’s contributions to the Youth Council and can’t wait to see the positive impact she’ll continue to make in the future. Congratulations, Halle!
