WACF Youth Council Senior Spotlight: Josie Althoff

May 2, 2025

The Watertown Area Community Foundation is proud to celebrate Josie Althoff, a graduating senior and member of the WACF Youth Council. Josie joined the Youth Council to expand her knowledge about the many organizations making a difference in Watertown—and through her time on the Council, she’s done just that.

One of Josie’s favorite projects was to help Watertown Cares, which owns 612 Flats, a transitional home for Watertown residents facing homelessness. The experience left a lasting impression and inspired her to take a more active role in supporting her community.

During her time on the Youth Council, Josie learned an important lesson: to always keep her eyes open. “There are always people in need and organizations there to help them,” she shared. This mindset has shaped how Josie sees her role in giving back, motivating her to always be on the lookout for ways to lend a hand.

After graduation, Josie plans to attend the University of Minnesota Morris to pursue a degree in psychology, following a pre-med path. No matter where life takes her, Josie plans to stay active in her community, continuing to volunteer and look for places where help is needed most.

The Foundation is grateful for Josie’s thoughtful contributions to the Youth Council and looks forward to all the good she’ll continue to do in the years ahead. Congratulations, Josie!
