Youth Council Elects New Members

June 26, 2025

The Foundation is proud to announce the newly elected members of its Youth Council for the 2025–2026 school year. This year also marks a special milestone: the 25th anniversary of the Foundation’s Youth Council, which began in 2001.

Incoming junior members elected to serve a two-year term are:

  • Abby Kruger, daughter of DeLyle and Wendy Kruger

  • Kate McElroy, daughter of Owen and Jenn McElroy

  • Owen Muller, son of Luke and Stephanie Muller

They join returning senior members:

  • Siri Bach, daughter of Darin and Halley Bach

  • Leila Byer, daughter of Mike and Megan Byer

  • Whitney Martinsen, daughter of Stefan and Clair Martinsen

Youth Council members are selected for their leadership potential and interest in philanthropy and community engagement. During their term, they participate in service projects, learn about grantmaking, and award at least $10,000 annually to youth-serving nonprofits in the Watertown area.

In late May, current members met with the new junior members for an orientation and to participate in the Splash Into Summer event at Foundation Plaza. Council members also had the opportunity to experience the adaptive play equipment installed at the Plaza.

Graduating seniors Josie Althoff, Isabella Horning, and Halle Olson were also recognized for their contributions as they complete their time on the Youth Council.

Since its inception, the Foundation’s Youth Council has awarded over $218,000 in grants to support programs that benefit local youth.

“We are incredibly proud of the impact these students have made in our community,” said Watertown Area Community Foundation Executive Director Cammie Mengwasser. “Their energy, insight, and generosity are inspiring—and the future is in good hands.”
